Our Library strives to provide knowledge-based information systems, resources, and services to support the needs of all members of the school’s community in order to promote life-long learning. The Library also strives to serve the curriculum of our program, assist individual and institutional research, and provide student and faculty education. The library will provide the highest quality and maximum service to all its users.

At the Library you will find a multitude of materials available to you throughout your education.  Circulation of materials is limited to current Faculty, Staff, and students with proper ID. Some of the materials that can be borrowed include:

NLM Gateway: 
This site is an entry point for searching the resources at the National Library of Medicine. It provides a global search function for PubMed, PubMed Central, and Medline Plus. Search results are divided into the following categories: Bibliographic, consumer health, and other information resources.

National Institute of Nursing Research: 
This organization’s mission is to support research in nursing in clinical and community settings through grants and other funding programs. It provides information on its own funding initiatives, including diversity programs and resources, links to nursing organizations for various specialties, and publications from national conferences and meetings.

PubMed: 
PubMed comprises more than 24 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

PubMed Central:
PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).

APA Style:

APA Tutorial: 
Tutorial introducing APA style from the University of Southern Mississippi Libraries. This tutorial includes information on formatting your paper, doing parenthetical or in-text references and creating a reference list.

Perdue OWL: 
The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, and we provide these as a free service of the Writing Lab at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects. This link will take you directly to the APA format page.

Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body:
The Bartleby.com edition of Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body features 1,247 vibrant engravings—many in color—from the classic 1918 publication, as well as a subject index with 13,000 entries.

Human Anatomy Online:
Explore the human body with hundreds of interactive anatomy pictures and descriptions of thousands of objects in the body.

Public Health Image Library (PHIL):
Created by a Working Group at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the PHIL offers an organized, universal electronic gateway to CDC’s pictures.

Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy:
Merck Manual for Professionals is available for free, searchable by keyword or topic. The professional edition contains daily news feeds, quizzes on specific disorders, information on drugs with a pill identifier and an online tool to determine any risk of drug interactions, interactive case studies, and “How-To” videos. The manual will also have illustrations, animations, and photos.

Nursing Associations:

American Nurses Association:
The ANA represents American registered nurses (RN’s). It provides information on current issues in nursing, a career center with a searchable jobs database, a place to post resumes, and advice for job-seekers. Some information is limited to members only.

National Coalition of Ethnic and Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA):
Offers information and links to the five major U.S. ethnic group nursing associations: Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPINA), Alaska Native American (NANAINA), Hispanic (NAHN), African-American (NBNA), and Philippine (PNAA).

National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses (NFLPN): 
The professional organization for licensed practical nurses, licensed vocational nurses, and practical/vocational nursing students in the United States. They offer continuing education and a career center to assist in locating a position, state affiliates, as well as an online discussion forum.
